Up above the stars are clear and bright,
While all around the snow is soft and white.
Everything is silent and still,
As I lay my head on the windowsill.
I fall into a dream filled slumber,
And I can’t help but wonder.
What it would be like to soar in the sky,
To swim like a fish,
To hunt like a wolf,
To climb like a cat.
I find myself in a wonderland.
Snowy mountains adorn the icy tundra,
Vultures circle overhead,
White rabbits hop on without a care,
A wolf sniffs the snow and howls at the sky,
But this world is empty of all civilization,
No one to share this joy and elation.
I want to go back home.
Back home where Mother would console me at night,
Back home where Father would protect me from the blight,
Back home where Brother would make gingerbread houses with me,
Back home where all the love will be.
I open my eyes one last time,
To see my family singing a rhyme.
And I smile about all that I care for,
Because I’m home again once more.
